Six PKFNAN Firms Travel To Europe On A Business Development Mission!
From June 7-12, Terry Snyder and Job Dieleman (both PKFNAN) and six PKFNAN firms went on an international business development mission to London and Frankfurt. They included PKF Frazier & Deeter in Atlanta, Clayton & McKervey in Detroit, Dent Baker & Co. in Birmingham, PKF Texas in Houston, PKF New York, and Hutchinson & Bloodgood in Los Angeles and San Diego,. In London they were hosted by Richard Bint and Chris Clay with PKF UK. The US firms met with the Tax Advisory, Real Estate, Natural Resources/Energy, Corporate Finance, Transnational Audit and IFRS teams to learn about each other’s capabilities and markets, share client information and explore new business development initiatives. In Frankfurt the group met with partners from the Duisburg, Nurnburg, Wurzburg, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Koln and Frankfurt firms. Also present in Frankfurt to meet the US firms were PKF Munkebo Jensen Vindelev from Denmark, PKF Savvides in Cyprus, PKF Italia, PKF Dubai, FBK in Russia, PKF Luxembourg, PKF Consulting in Zurich Switzerland, PKF Czech Republic, PKF Wallast in The Netherlands, and PKF Ampersand in France. Another valuable part of the program were introductions to global referral sources such as the legal firm Pinsent Masons, private equity investment firms H.I.G. Capital, Finncap, and the Foresight Group. On the last day Wolfgang Hofmann invited the US group to join the PKF Frankfurt Golf Day, a large annual marketing event organized for its clients and referral sources.
Throughout the week there were opportunities to network outside of the formal meetings. The PKFI board and Corporate Finance Committee also were meeting there during the same time. It was very positive for all to learn about the significant international capabilities that the PKFI network has. This greatly increases the level of comfort when referring work to each other. The firms are following up on specific opportunities and leads from each other or those that resulted from the introductions to the referral sources. Some US firms are developing close working relationships with specific European firms. The groups also reached consensus on an initiative to explore renewable energy and related technologies as a new PKF sector focus. An exploratory group was set up to evaluate it further and make a recommendation.
PKFNAN plans to follow up on this success with business development missions to other regions. PKFNAN also wants to encourage missions from other regions to come to North America to help build the global cohesiveness, responsiveness, and above all the business needed to propel PKF to the next level.
