"Big-firm capabilities, with a personal, small-town attitude."
Even as a ninth-grader, Tanya knew she wanted to become a CPA. Her parents had a friend in the accounting profession and she liked the way he described his job, so she took an accounting class and loved it. Tanya’s enthusiasm for the accounting profession didn’t diminish when she got to college. “I was one of the few people I knew who never changed their major in college,” she said.
In addition to being sure of her career, Tanya knew what kind of firm she was looking for. “I always wanted to work in a smaller firm,” she said. “It probably has to do with growing up in a fairly small town. That’s what I like about Hutchinson and Bloodgood: Big-firm capabilities, with a personal, small-town attitude.”
Tanya graduated Cum Laude from Utah State University, and has been working in the field of public accounting since 1989. She joined Hutchinson and Bloodgood LLP in January 2001 when the firm merged with Logan Throop & Co., LLP, and was named Partner in October 2006. Previously, she worked as the controller for a family-owned international consulting firm.
Most of Tanya's clients are owner-managed businesses, and she has acquired the knowledge, skill and experience necessary to develop innovative and valuable solutions for the unique issues faced by these businesses. Tanya says, "Not only do owner-managed businesses require traditional tax and accounting services, they often need help in addressing areas such as exit planning, business value maximization, governance, conflict resolution, business planning, management and leadership training, and running effective family councils."
When she’s not at work, Tanya enjoys cooking, music (she plays both the piano and the guitar), and activities with her church. She has become a cycling enthusiast, and biked her way through Portugal in 2006, and will be cycling through Germany in 2011.
